MLA Mohali Kulwant Singh Flags Off Pilgrimage Bus from Kumbra Under Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme
In a significant initiative aimed at promoting spiritual well-being and honoring senior citizens, MLA Mohali Kulwant Singh today flagged off a special bus pilgrimage from Kumbra village in Mohali under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Plan. The event marked the beginning of a sacred journey for elderly pilgrims who will visit some of the most revered religious and historical sites in Punjab.
The bus, carrying senior citizens from different parts of the constituency, was ceremoniously flagged off amid a warm and respectful atmosphere. Family members and local residents gathered to bid farewell to the pilgrims, expressing gratitude towards the government for organizing such a meaningful initiative. The scheme is part of the broader vision of the Bhagwant Mann government, which focuses on providing accessible religious travel opportunities for senior citizens.
As part of this pilgrimage, the devotees will visit the sacred Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, which holds immense spiritual significance for millions of people. The journey will also include visits to the historic Durgiana Temple, the revered Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, and two major historical landmarks—Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum. These destinations collectively represent a blend of spiritual devotion and historical remembrance.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Kulwant Singh highlighted the importance of such programs in connecting people with their cultural and spiritual roots. He emphasized that many elderly citizens, due to financial or physical constraints, are often unable to undertake such journeys on their own. “This pilgrimage is not just a यात्रा but a way to fulfill the spiritual aspirations of our senior citizens. The government is committed to ensuring that they experience comfort, dignity, and devotion throughout the journey,” he stated.
The MLA further assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for the pilgrims. Facilities such as transportation, food, accommodation, and medical support have been carefully planned by the administration. Dedicated staff members have also been assigned to assist the pilgrims at every stage of the यात्रा, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.
Participants expressed their happiness and gratitude, stating that this initiative has given them a valuable opportunity to visit sacred places they had long wished to see. Many senior citizens described the moment as emotional and fulfilling, thanking the Punjab government for making their spiritual journey possible.
Local officials present at the event confirmed that the Mann Government has prioritized the welfare of senior citizens through such initiatives. The pilgrimage scheme reflects a people-centric approach that aims to combine faith, culture, and accessibility.
As the bus departed from Kumbra village, it carried with it not just passengers, but also hopes, श्रद्धा, and a sense of collective pride. The initiative stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to inclusive development and respect for cultural values.
The pilgrimage is expected to conclude successfully, with pilgrims returning home enriched by spiritual experiences and cherished memories, further strengthening the bond between the government and the people it serves.
