MLA Mohali Kulwant Singh Oversees Distribution of ₹1 Crore Grants for Village Development in Mohali
In a major boost to rural infrastructure and grassroots development, MLA Mohali Kulwant Singh today led the distribution of development funds worth ₹1 crore to around 21 villages of the constituency. The cheques were distributed by District Planning Board Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur, marking a significant step towards strengthening village-level development.
Under this initiative, each village received financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to carry out various development works. The cheques were handed over to the respective Panchayat members of all villages, who will be responsible for utilizing the funds for essential infrastructure and public welfare projects.
The distribution ceremony was attended by Panchayat representatives, local residents, and officials, who welcomed the move as a strong push towards improving basic amenities in rural areas. The funds are expected to be used for development works such as road repairs, sanitation improvements, drainage systems, street lighting, and other community infrastructure.
Kulwant Singh emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to empowering villages and ensuring balanced development across all regions. He stated that providing direct financial support to Panchayats enables faster execution of projects and ensures that local needs are addressed effectively.
“These funds are meant for the overall development of our villages. Panchayats have been entrusted with the responsibility to utilize this amount wisely and complete development works at the earliest for the benefit of residents,” the MLA said while addressing the gathering.
He further highlighted that under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government is focusing on strengthening rural infrastructure and improving the quality of life for citizens. The MLA assured that such initiatives will continue in the future to ensure that no village is left behind in the development process.
Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur also addressed the gathering and encouraged Panchayat members to maintain transparency and accountability while utilizing the funds. She stressed the importance of prioritizing essential works that directly benefit the community.
