MLA Kulwant Singh Inaugurates Canal Water Supply Project for Sohana Residents
A major public infrastructure project was launched in Village Sohana, SAS Nagar Mohali, on 27 June 2026 with the commencement of work on a new canal water supply pipeline. The project was inaugurated by MLA Kulwant Singh and is aimed at ensuring a reliable supply of clean and safe drinking water to every household in the village. The initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s continued commitment to strengthening essential public infrastructure under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The canal water pipeline project has been designed to improve the village’s drinking water distribution system by providing residents with a dependable source of treated canal water. Once completed, the project is expected to significantly enhance water availability, improve the quality of drinking water, and reduce dependence on groundwater resources. The initiative will benefit thousands of residents while supporting the long-term development needs of the growing village.
Clean drinking water is one of the most essential public services for ensuring better health, hygiene, and overall quality of life. The new pipeline will strengthen the existing water supply network, improve distribution efficiency, and provide a more sustainable water management system. The project is also expected to minimise water shortages during peak demand periods and contribute to improved public health across the community.
The development work forms part of the Punjab Government’s broader vision of strengthening infrastructure and improving citizen services across SAS Nagar Mohali. Continuous investments in drinking water supply, roads, drainage, sanitation, healthcare, education, and rural development are helping create modern, well-equipped villages while ensuring balanced growth across both urban and rural areas of the constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that access to safe and clean drinking water is a basic necessity and one of the highest priorities of the Punjab Government. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, sustained efforts are being made to modernise water infrastructure and improve essential civic amenities throughout Mohali. He added that the canal water pipeline project will provide long-term benefits to the people of Sohana by ensuring reliable water supply and improving the standard of living for every household.
He further said that the government remains committed to implementing development projects that directly improve the lives of citizens. He encouraged residents to actively support such initiatives and assured them that work would continue to strengthen basic infrastructure and public services across the constituency through transparent and timely implementation.
The commencement of the canal water pipeline project marks another important milestone in the ongoing development of SAS Nagar Mohali. Through sustained investment in essential infrastructure, improved public services, and citizen-focused governance, the Punjab Government and MLA Kulwant Singh remain dedicated to building stronger villages, healthier communities, and a better future for the people of Mohali.
