Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana flagged off a special pilgrimage bus carrying senior citizens from Village Dhurali, SAS Nagar Mohali, under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme. The welfare initiative, launched by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, aims to provide elderly citizens with an opportunity to undertake a comfortable, safe, and spiritually enriching journey to some of Punjab’s most revered religious and historical destinations with complete government support.
Before the departure of the bus, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana met the senior citizens, interacted warmly with the pilgrims, and conveyed his heartfelt wishes for a safe, peaceful, and memorable pilgrimage. He expressed happiness that elderly residents of Mohali are receiving the opportunity to fulfil their spiritual aspirations without having to worry about travel arrangements, accommodation, or other logistical challenges.
During the pilgrimage, the devotees will visit several iconic religious and heritage sites, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum in Amritsar. These destinations hold immense religious, cultural, and historical significance, allowing pilgrims to seek divine blessings while exploring Punjab’s rich spiritual traditions and historical legacy.
The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has become one of the Punjab Government’s important welfare initiatives for senior citizens. Comprehensive arrangements, including comfortable transportation, assistance, accommodation, medical support, and other essential facilities, have been made to ensure that the devotees can complete their pilgrimage with dignity and convenience. The scheme reflects the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of elderly citizens while promoting social inclusion and community welfare.
The senior citizens expressed their appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a meaningful opportunity to visit sacred places they had long wished to see. The flag-off ceremony concluded with prayers for the safe and successful completion of the pilgrimage.
