Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana Applauds Participants at 21st District Athletics Championship
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana attended the 21st District Athletics Championship organised by the District Athletics Association, Mohali, as the Chief Guest at Government College, Phase 6, SAS Nagar Mohali. The championship brought together athletes from across the district, providing a competitive platform to showcase their talent while promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness, and a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana congratulated the District Athletics Association for successfully organising the championship and appreciated the enthusiasm, discipline, and dedication displayed by the participating athletes. He said that sporting events play a vital role in identifying emerging talent, encouraging healthy competition, and motivating young people to pursue excellence both on and off the field.
During the programme, the Mayor interacted with athletes, coaches, officials, and organisers, extending his best wishes to all participants. He encouraged the young sportspersons to remain committed to hard work, discipline, and continuous improvement, expressing confidence that many of them would go on to represent Mohali and Punjab at state, national, and international sporting events.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana also acknowledged the invaluable contribution of coaches, teachers, parents, and sports associations in nurturing young athletes. He said that their guidance and encouragement play an essential role in helping children and youth realise their full potential while developing qualities such as leadership, perseverance, teamwork, self-confidence, and respect for fair play.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening sports infrastructure and creating greater opportunities for athletes across the state. He noted that initiatives promoting sports at the grassroots level are essential for identifying young talent and inspiring more youth to actively participate in athletics and other sporting disciplines.
