Senior Citizens from Bari Begin Religious Journey Under Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme
Mohali: A bus carrying senior pilgrims from Bari village in the Mohali constituency departed on 13 August 2026 for a religious and historical journey under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme. The initiative aims to facilitate pilgrimage for senior citizens by providing organised travel and essential arrangements during the journey.
The pilgrims are scheduled to visit several prominent religious and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum. The journey will provide the elderly devotees an opportunity to pay obeisance at important religious sites and learn about places connected with Punjab’s rich history and heritage.
The Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is designed to make religious travel more accessible and convenient for senior citizens. Under the arrangements for the pilgrimage, participating pilgrims will be provided accommodation and meals by the Punjab Government during the journey.
The departure from Bari village was marked by enthusiasm among the participating senior citizens and local residents. The initiative also gave elderly residents an opportunity to travel together and visit destinations of religious, cultural and historical importance.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is an important welfare initiative aimed at helping senior citizens undertake religious journeys comfortably. He said that organised transportation along with arrangements for accommodation and food can make pilgrimage more convenient for elderly residents.
MLA Kulwant Singh wished all the pilgrims a safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling journey. He expressed hope that their visit to the various religious and historical destinations would provide them with memorable experiences.
The pilgrimage bus departed from Bari village with the participating senior citizens, with travel, accommodation and meal arrangements being facilitated under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme.
