Senior Pilgrims Depart Dhelpur Village Under Chief Minister’s Tirath Yatra Initiative
Mohali: A bus carrying senior pilgrims from Dhelpur village in the Mohali constituency departed on 13 August 2026 for a religious and historical journey under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme. The initiative aims to make pilgrimage more accessible and convenient for senior citizens through organised travel arrangements and essential facilities.
The elderly pilgrims are scheduled to visit several prominent religious and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum. The journey will give the pilgrims an opportunity to visit revered religious sites as well as places associated with Punjab’s cultural and historical heritage.
Under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme, participating senior citizens are provided organised travel facilities for the pilgrimage. During the journey, the pilgrims will also be provided accommodation and meals by the Punjab Government, reducing the need for them to make separate arrangements for these essential requirements.
The departure from Dhelpur village was marked by enthusiasm among the participating senior citizens and local residents. The pilgrimage provides elderly residents with an opportunity to travel together, undertake a spiritual journey and visit places of religious, cultural and historical significance.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is a useful initiative for senior citizens who wish to undertake religious journeys. He said that organised transportation along with arrangements for accommodation and meals can make such journeys more comfortable and convenient for elderly residents.
MLA Kulwant Singh wished all the pilgrims a safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling journey and prayed for their good health and well-being. He expressed hope that the pilgrims would return with cherished memories from their visit to the various religious and historical destinations.
The pilgrimage bus departed from Dhelpur village with the participating senior citizens, with travel, accommodation and meal facilities being provided under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme.
