Sher-e-Punjab T20 League Launched in Mohali, CM Mann Says It Will Boost Punjab Cricket

Mohali: Punjab’s cricketing calendar entered a new phase with the inauguration of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cricket League at the PCA Cricket Stadium in Mohali. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann attended the inaugural ceremony and welcomed the launch of the new franchise-based T20 tournament.

Organised by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), the league aims to provide emerging cricketers from the state with a professional platform to compete, gain valuable match experience, and learn alongside established players.

The inaugural edition features six franchise teams representing different regions of Punjab — Fazilka Falcons, Ludhiana Lions, Amritsar Soormas, Jalandhar Warriors, Mohali Kings and Bathinda Royals.

The tournament opened with a match between Amritsar Soormas and Mohali Kings at the PCA Stadium. All matches of the inaugural season are being hosted at the Mohali venue, making the city the centre of the new competition.

A total of 27 matches are scheduled during the tournament, including league-stage fixtures, knockout matches and the final. The competition is scheduled to continue until September 13, when the inaugural champion will be decided.

Focus on Punjab’s Emerging Cricket Talent

The primary objective of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League is to create another professional pathway for promising players from Punjab. A total of 119 players were selected through the auction process for the six teams, giving a large group of cricketers an opportunity to participate in the new professional competition.
