Senior Citizens from Jujhar Nagar Begin Pilgrimage in Presence of MLA Kulwant Singh
SAS Nagar (Mohali), July 22, 2026: A group of senior citizens from Jujhar Nagar village in the Mohali constituency embarked on a spiritual pilgrimage under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme on Tuesday, July 22, 2026. The pilgrims were flagged off in the presence of local residents and well-wishers, who extended their heartfelt wishes for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching journey.
The Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme, launched by the Punjab Government, has become a significant welfare initiative dedicated to the well-being of senior citizens. The programme enables elderly devotees to undertake pilgrimages to important religious destinations without incurring any personal expenses. Under the scheme, the government provides free transportation, accommodation, nutritious meals, medical assistance, and other essential travel facilities, ensuring a hassle-free and dignified travel experience.
As part of the pilgrimage, the senior citizens will visit several of Punjab’s most revered religious and historical landmarks, including Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum. Addressing the gathering, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme reflects the Punjab Government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and dignity of senior citizens. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government is ensuring that elderly citizens can undertake religious pilgrimages without worrying about travel expenses or logistical arrangements.
