Three Pilgrimage Buses Depart from Maujpur, Gobindgarh and Chachumajra Under Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme
Three buses carrying senior pilgrims from Maujpur, Gobindgarh and Chachumajra villages in the Mohali constituency were flagged off on 22 August 2026 under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme.
The pilgrimage will take the elderly devotees to several important religious and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum, along with other places of historical significance.
The journey provides senior citizens from the three villages with an opportunity to undertake a religious pilgrimage and visit important sites connected with Punjab’s spiritual, cultural and historical heritage. The participation of elderly residents from different villages also reflects the continued reach of the government-supported pilgrimage programme in rural areas.
Under the arrangements for the pilgrimage, the participating devotees will be provided accommodation and meals during the journey by the Punjab Government. This allows senior citizens to undertake the trip with greater convenience without having to independently arrange the essential facilities associated with travel and stay.
The departure of the three buses was marked by enthusiasm among the senior pilgrims and local residents. Family members and villagers gathered to extend their best wishes to the devotees before their journey.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is an important initiative for senior citizens, providing them with an opportunity to visit revered religious places and historically significant destinations in an organised manner. He said that arrangements for travel, accommodation and food help make the pilgrimage more comfortable for elderly residents.
He wished all the pilgrims a safe and peaceful journey and prayed for their good health and well-being. He expressed hope that the devotees would return with memorable and spiritually fulfilling experiences. The three buses departed from Maujpur, Gobindgarh and Chachumajra with the participating senior citizens, marking another pilgrimage journey from the Mohali constituency under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme.
