MLA Kulwant Singh Launches Pilgrimage Tour for Elderly Residents of Landran
A special pilgrimage bus carrying senior citizens from Village Landran, SAS Nagar Mohali, was flagged off on 4 July 2026 under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, a flagship welfare initiative of the Punjab Government aimed at providing elderly citizens with an opportunity to undertake spiritual journeys with dignity, comfort, and convenience. The initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s continued commitment to senior citizen welfare under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
MLA Kulwant Singh participated in the flag-off ceremony and extended his heartfelt best wishes to all the pilgrims for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling journey. Before the departure, he interacted with the senior citizens and assured them that the Punjab Government had made comprehensive arrangements for transportation, accommodation, meals, medical assistance, and other essential facilities to ensure a smooth and memorable pilgrimage experience.
During the pilgrimage, the devotees are scheduled to visit several renowned religious and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Durgiana Mandir, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, the Partition Museum, and other places of spiritual, cultural, and historical importance. The journey offers senior citizens an opportunity to seek divine blessings while experiencing Punjab’s rich religious heritage and historical legacy in a safe and well-organised environment.
The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has emerged as an important welfare initiative for elderly citizens, especially those who may find it difficult to undertake such journeys independently due to financial or logistical challenges. By providing organised travel and comprehensive support, the Punjab Government is making religious tourism more accessible while promoting social inclusion, cultural awareness, and the well-being of senior citizens. The initiative also reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that welfare programmes reach every deserving section of society.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that senior citizens have made invaluable contributions to society throughout their lives and deserve opportunities to undertake spiritual journeys with dignity and respect. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to implementing welfare initiatives that improve the quality of life of elderly citizens while preserving Punjab’s rich religious and cultural traditions. He wished all the pilgrims good health, happiness, a safe journey, and a spiritually enriching experience.
He further expressed confidence that the pilgrimage would provide the devotees with peace of mind, spiritual inspiration, and unforgettable memories. He encouraged senior citizens to continue benefiting from government welfare schemes designed to promote their well-being and social inclusion.
The flag-off ceremony concluded with prayers for the safe and successful completion of the pilgrimage. Through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, the Punjab Government and MLA Kulwant Singh continue to strengthen public welfare, preserve Punjab’s religious and cultural heritage, and enhance the dignity, happiness, and quality of life of senior citizens across SAS Nagar Mohali.
