\Senior citizens from Bakarpur and Jhurheri villages in the Mohali constituency embarked on a spiritual pilgrimage on 4 August 2026 under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme, a flagship welfare initiative of the Punjab Government aimed at enabling elderly citizens to undertake sacred journeys with dignity and without financial burden. As part of the programme, two pilgrimage buses were flagged off from Bakarpur and one bus from Jhurheri, carrying devotees to prominent religious and historical destinations in Punjab.
The departure ceremony witnessed the presence of local residents, family members, and community representatives, who gathered to extend their best wishes to the pilgrims.
