₹5 Crore Allocated for Infrastructure Development Across Mohali Villages
A major boost to rural development and social welfare was provided in the Mohali constituency on 3 August 2026, with the distribution of ₹5 crore in development grants among 52 villages for the execution of various public infrastructure and community development projects. On the same occasion, 18 economically weaker families received financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each for the construction or repair of their houses under the Punjab Government’s welfare initiatives.
The development grants have been allocated to village panchayats to support a wide range of priority works identified at the local level. These include the improvement of roads, drainage systems, sanitation, drinking water facilities, street lighting, community buildings, public spaces, and other essential civic infrastructure aimed at enhancing the quality of life in rural areas.
Along with the development grants, housing assistance was extended to 18 eligible families facing financial hardship in constructing or repairing their homes. Each beneficiary received a cheque of ₹2 lakh, providing significant support towards securing safe and permanent housing. The initiative seeks to improve living conditions and provide greater housing security for economically weaker sections of society.
The programme reflects the Punjab Government’s continued commitment to balanced rural development and inclusive social welfare. By simultaneously strengthening village infrastructure and extending housing assistance to deserving families, the government aims to ensure that development benefits reach every section of society while improving public amenities across rural communities.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the release of development grants for 52 villages demonstrates the Punjab Government’s commitment to accelerating grassroots development across the Mohali constituency. He stated that the funds have been allocated in a fair and transparent manner, enabling village panchayats to undertake development works based on local priorities and community needs.
Referring to the housing assistance provided to 18 families, MLA Kulwant Singh said that ensuring access to safe and permanent housing is an important aspect of social welfare. He noted that financial support for economically weaker families not only improves their living conditions but also strengthens the overall well-being and dignity of rural households. He credited the welfare-oriented vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for prioritising initiatives that directly benefit ordinary citizens.
MLA Kulwant Singh congratulated all the beneficiary villages and families and expressed confidence that the grants would contribute to faster execution of development works, improved public infrastructure, and enhanced civic amenities across the constituency. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of government welfare schemes so that every eligible resident receives the benefits of development.
The programme concluded with the distribution of development grant and housing assistance cheques to the beneficiaries. The initiative reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s focus on strengthening rural infrastructure, supporting vulnerable families, and promoting inclusive and sustainable development throughout the Mohali constituency.
