MLA Kulwant Singh Welcomes New Leadership to Strengthen Mohali’s Development
A new leadership team has officially assumed office at the Mohali Municipal Corporation, marking an important milestone in the city’s urban governance and development journey. MLA Kulwant Singh extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sarabjit Singh on his election as Mayor, R.P. Sharma as Senior Deputy Mayor, and Harpal Singh Channa as Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Corporation.
The formation of the new civic leadership comes at a crucial time as SAS Nagar (Mohali) continues to experience rapid urban expansion, increasing population, and rising demand for quality civic infrastructure and public services. The Municipal Corporation plays a central role in ensuring efficient governance by managing sanitation, waste management, road maintenance, street lighting, water supply, sewerage systems, parks, public amenities, and planned urban development.
Congratulating the newly elected office bearers, MLA Kulwant Singh expressed confidence that the new leadership team would work with dedication, transparency, and commitment to accelerate the city’s development and improve the quality of life for residents across Mohali.
The election of the Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor is an important step in strengthening local self-governance. Working closely with councillors, administrative officials, and citizens, the newly elected leaders will be responsible for overseeing municipal policies, improving civic services, and ensuring the timely implementation of development projects throughout the city.
Mohali has emerged as one of Punjab’s fastest-growing urban centres, attracting significant residential, commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial investments. With continuous urban expansion, the need for efficient municipal administration has become more important than ever. Strong coordination between elected representatives and government departments remains essential to ensure sustainable growth and efficient service delivery.
Residents across Mohali continue to expect better roads, improved drainage systems, cleaner neighbourhoods, enhanced public transport, reliable water supply, modern public infrastructure, green spaces, and citizen-friendly municipal services. The newly elected leadership will play a significant role in shaping future development policies while addressing the growing civic needs of the city.
The Municipal Corporation also serves as a vital bridge between citizens and the local administration. Through regular public engagement and interaction with community organisations, municipal leaders can better understand local priorities and implement practical solutions that directly benefit residents. Promoting transparency, accountability, and public participation remains fundamental to effective urban governance.
Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has consistently focused on strengthening local governance, improving civic infrastructure, enhancing public service delivery, and promoting transparent administration. Municipal bodies across the state are expected to play a key role in implementing these development initiatives at the grassroots level.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh congratulated Sarabjit Singh, R.P. Sharma, and Harpal Singh Channa on their respective elections and wished them success in their new responsibilities.
He said:
“Mohali is growing rapidly, and with this growth comes greater responsibility. I am confident that the newly elected leadership will work with honesty, dedication, and commitment to strengthen civic administration, improve public services, and accelerate development projects that benefit every resident of our city.”
He further emphasized that continuous coordination between the Municipal Corporation, government departments, and public representatives will be essential for ensuring faster implementation of infrastructure projects and efficient resolution of civic issues.
MLA Kulwant Singh also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving Mohali Infrastructure, strengthening Citizen Services, enhancing urban amenities, and ensuring inclusive development across all wards and sectors of the city.
The election of the new Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor marks the beginning of a new chapter in Mohali’s urban development. With collective efforts from elected representatives, municipal officials, and active citizen participation, the city is expected to witness further progress in infrastructure development, public welfare, environmental sustainability, and efficient civic governance.
As Mohali continues its journey toward becoming one of Punjab’s leading urban centres, the focus will remain on building a cleaner, greener, well-connected, and citizen-friendly city that offers improved public services and a better quality of life for all residents.
