The camp brought together children from different parts of the city to participate in athletics training, fitness sessions, and outdoor activities during the summer vacation.
During his visit, the Mayor interacted with the young athletes, coaches, parents, and organisers, applauding the enthusiasm, discipline, and dedication displayed by the participants. He extended his best wishes to the children and appreciated the efforts of the coaching team for providing a structured environment where youngsters could develop athletic skills, improve physical fitness, and build self-confidence through sports.
Addressing the participants, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that sports play a vital role in the overall development of children. Along with improving physical fitness, regular participation in athletics helps instil discipline, teamwork, leadership, confidence, and mental resilience. He noted that coaching camps like these encourage children to adopt healthy lifestyles from an early age while also providing opportunities to identify and nurture future sporting talent.
The Mayor also praised the organisers for conducting the summer camp and creating meaningful opportunities for children to remain active and engaged during their holidays. He said that such programmes not only promote physical and mental well-being but also inspire young people to develop positive habits and pursue excellence in sports.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said:
“Children are the future of our society, and investing in their physical fitness, character development, and sporting abilities is essential for building a healthier and stronger Punjab. I congratulate the organisers and coaches for their dedication in encouraging young athletes and creating an environment that inspires discipline, confidence, and a spirit of healthy competition.”
He further said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government continues to promote sports infrastructure, youth development, and opportunities for young athletes across the state. He expressed hope that more community-based sports initiatives would be organised in Mohali to encourage greater participation in athletics and other outdoor activities.
The Children’s Athletics Coaching Summer Camp reflects Mohali’s growing emphasis on youth development, fitness, and community well-being. Alongside improvements in civic infrastructure and public services, promoting sports among children remains an important step towards building a healthier, more active, and progressive SAS Nagar (Mohali). Such initiatives not only strengthen grassroots sports but also contribute to the overall development of future generations.
