Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana Appreciates Youth Participation in Cultural Competition
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana participated in a Gurbani and cultural programme organised by the Gurdwara Coordination Committee, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Mohali at Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Singh Sabha. Organised at the invitation of the committee, the event brought together children and young participants from different parts of Mohali who showcased their talent through competitions in Gurbani Kanth (recitation), poetry, speeches, and turban tying. The programme celebrated Punjab’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage while encouraging the younger generation to stay connected with their traditions and values.
Before the commencement of the programme, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Singh Sabha and offered prayers for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of all. He later interacted with the participants, appreciating their confidence, dedication, and enthusiasm in taking part in activities that promote spirituality, discipline, and cultural awareness. He encouraged the children to continue learning Gurbani, strengthen their moral values, and actively participate in educational, religious, and cultural programmes that contribute to their overall personality development.
The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation from children representing different age groups, who impressed the audience through their Gurbani recitation, public speaking, poetry presentations, and traditional turban-tying skills. The event provided a meaningful platform for young participants to develop confidence, leadership qualities, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of Sikh history, values, and heritage while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and community participation.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana appreciated the efforts of parents, teachers, volunteers, and members of the Gurdwara Coordination Committee for organising an inspiring programme that nurtures moral values and cultural pride among the younger generation. He observed that religious and community institutions play a significant role in shaping responsible citizens by promoting the principles of service, equality, compassion, and mutual respect.
He also congratulated all the winners and participants for their outstanding performances and thanked the organisers for extending the invitation and honouring him with a warm welcome. He said that such initiatives not only preserve Punjab’s glorious cultural and spiritual traditions but also inspire children to remain rooted in their heritage while preparing themselves to become responsible and compassionate members of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that encouraging children to participate in religious, educational, and cultural activities is essential for building a progressive, disciplined, and value-based society. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to supporting programmes that promote education, youth development, cultural preservation, and community participation. He added that Gurbani and cultural competitions play an important role in inspiring young minds to uphold the timeless values of faith, service, humility, and harmony while preserving Punjab’s rich heritage for future generations.
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes and appreciation certificates to the participants, followed by a collective commitment to continue organising such meaningful initiatives in the future.
