Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana Reviews Ongoing Sanitation and Drain Cleaning Operations in Mohali
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana conducted an extensive inspection across various parts of SAS Nagar Mohali to review the city’s sanitation services and drainage infrastructure. The inspection was undertaken to assess the preparedness of the Municipal Corporation ahead of the monsoon season and to ensure that essential civic facilities continue to function efficiently for the benefit of residents.
During the visit, the Mayor inspected public roads, markets, residential areas, and key drainage points to evaluate the ongoing sanitation and drain-cleaning operations. He reviewed the condition of stormwater drains, checked the progress of desilting work, and interacted with Municipal Corporation officials to ensure that drainage channels remain free from blockages and are capable of handling heavy rainfall.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana directed the concerned departments to maintain regular sanitation drives and strengthen preventive measures to minimise the risk of waterlogging during the rainy season. He emphasised that timely cleaning of drains, proper waste management, and continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations are essential for maintaining public health and ensuring smooth civic operations across the city.
While interacting with officials, the Mayor instructed them to conduct routine field inspections, identify problem areas at an early stage, and take immediate corrective action wherever required. He stressed that proactive maintenance and quick response mechanisms are key to preventing drainage-related issues and delivering efficient public services to citizens.
Addressing the media, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that cleanliness and efficient drainage management remain among the Municipal Corporation’s top priorities. He stated that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening urban infrastructure, enhancing sanitation standards, and improving civic amenities across SAS Nagar Mohali.
He further said that the Municipal Corporation is continuously working to ensure cleaner surroundings, better drainage facilities, and improved public infrastructure so that residents can enjoy a safe, healthy, and comfortable living environment. He assured citizens that all concerned departments have been instructed to remain alert throughout the monsoon season and to respond promptly to any sanitation or drainage-related issues.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana also appealed to residents to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation by maintaining cleanliness in their neighbourhoods and avoiding the disposal of waste into drains, as public participation plays an important role in keeping the city’s drainage network functional and preventing waterlogging.
The inspection reflects the Municipal Corporation’s continued commitment to strengthening civic infrastructure through improved sanitation, effective drainage management, and responsive governance.
