Punjab Government Strengthens Rural Development Through Rangla Punjab Initiative in Mohali
In a major step towards strengthening rural infrastructure and improving the quality of life in villages, financial assistance was distributed under the Punjab Government’s Rangla Punjab Initiative. The programme focused on accelerating village development by providing grants for community infrastructure while also extending housing assistance to economically deserving families, reflecting the government’s continued commitment to inclusive and people-centric development.
During the programme, development grant cheques worth ₹2 crore were distributed to 39 villages to support a wide range of public development works. The financial assistance is expected to help village panchayats undertake projects related to civic infrastructure, public amenities, sanitation, internal roads, community facilities, and other essential works aimed at improving the everyday lives of rural residents. Such investments play an important role in strengthening grassroots development and creating better infrastructure for future generations.
Village development remains one of the key pillars of sustainable and inclusive growth. Programmes such as Rangla Punjab are designed to empower local communities by providing resources that enable villages to address their own development priorities. Improved infrastructure not only enhances public convenience but also contributes to better living standards, stronger local economies, and greater opportunities for social progress.
In addition to development grants, financial assistance for house construction was also provided to 31 economically deserving families. Access to safe, secure, and dignified housing is a fundamental aspect of social welfare. The housing assistance will help beneficiary families construct permanent homes, improving their living conditions while providing greater security and stability for their future.
The combined focus on rural infrastructure and housing support reflects a comprehensive approach towards development that benefits both communities and individual households. By strengthening public infrastructure alongside targeted welfare initiatives, the programme seeks to promote balanced development and ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach those who need them the most.
Villages across the Mohali constituency continue to play a vital role in the region’s overall growth and development. Continued investments in rural infrastructure, community assets, public amenities, and housing support are expected to further improve living standards while creating stronger, self-reliant, and more vibrant rural communities. Such initiatives also contribute to reducing developmental disparities and encouraging long-term sustainable growth.
Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has continued to prioritize rural development, community welfare, and inclusive governance. Through initiatives such as Rangla Punjab, the government aims to strengthen village infrastructure, improve public services, expand welfare support, and ensure that development reaches every section of society.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the vision of development can only be achieved when every village and every deserving family receives equal opportunities to progress. He stated that the grants distributed under the Rangla Punjab Initiative would help accelerate village development projects, strengthen civic infrastructure, and improve essential public facilities, while the housing assistance would provide meaningful support to families working towards building secure and permanent homes.
He further emphasized that empowering rural communities through better infrastructure, quality public services, and welfare initiatives remains a key priority. He expressed confidence that sustained investment in village development and citizen welfare would contribute to stronger communities, improved living standards, and greater opportunities for future generations across Mohali.
The distribution of development grants and housing assistance marks another important milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen rural development and social welfare in Punjab. As Mohali continues to progress, initiatives focused on infrastructure improvement, community empowerment, and inclusive growth will remain central to building stronger villages, enhancing public welfare, and ensuring sustainable development for all.
