Solar Lighting Project Enhances Civic Amenities in Gobindgarh
Solar-powered LED street lights were inaugurated in Gobindgarh village, SAS Nagar Mohali, on 12 July 2026, marking another important milestone in strengthening rural infrastructure and improving public safety. The project was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) with the objective of providing better illumination, enhancing security, and promoting the use of clean and renewable energy across the village.
MLA Kulwant Singh attended the inauguration programme along with local residents, community leaders, and public representatives. The newly installed solar LED street lights are expected to significantly improve visibility during night hours, making village roads safer for pedestrians, commuters, and local residents. Besides strengthening public safety, the project also promotes environmentally sustainable development through the use of energy-efficient infrastructure that reduces dependence on conventional electricity.
Following the inauguration, MLA Kulwant Singh interacted with villagers and reviewed various local development issues. Residents discussed matters related to roads, sanitation, drainage, public amenities, village infrastructure, and other civic requirements. He listened attentively to their concerns and valuable suggestions, assuring the gathering that all genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments to ensure timely and effective resolution. The interaction further strengthened communication between the administration and the community while helping identify priorities for future development.
The installation of solar-powered street lights reflects the Punjab Government’s continued emphasis on sustainable infrastructure and balanced rural development. Along with ongoing investments in roads, healthcare, education, sanitation, drinking water supply, and other public utilities, renewable energy initiatives such as solar lighting are contributing to the creation of safer, cleaner, and environmentally responsible villages across SAS Nagar Mohali.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that quality public infrastructure and well-lit streets play a vital role in ensuring the safety, convenience, and overall well-being of residents. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to strengthening citizen-centric infrastructure, expanding public services, and promoting sustainable development across Punjab. He also expressed his gratitude to Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang for facilitating the project through the MPLADS Fund and assured villagers that the issues raised during the interaction would be pursued with the concerned authorities for prompt resolution.
