Solar LED Project Promotes Clean Energy and Safer Streets
A new network of LED solar street lights was inaugurated in Landran village, SAS Nagar Mohali, on 12 July 2026, marking another significant step towards strengthening public infrastructure, improving road safety, and promoting sustainable development in the village. The project was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), with the objective of providing better illumination, enhancing public convenience, and ensuring safer movement for residents during evening and night hours.
MLA Kulwant Singh attended the inauguration programme along with local residents, community leaders, and public representatives. The newly installed solar-powered LED street lights are expected to improve visibility on village roads, increase the safety of pedestrians and commuters, and contribute to a cleaner environment through the use of renewable energy. The initiative also reflects the growing emphasis on adopting energy-efficient infrastructure while strengthening essential civic amenities in rural areas.
Following the inauguration, MLA Kulwant Singh interacted with villagers and reviewed various local development issues. Residents discussed matters related to civic infrastructure, public amenities, roads, sanitation, street lighting, drainage, and other community requirements. He patiently listened to the concerns and valuable suggestions put forward by the villagers and assured them that all genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments to ensure timely and effective resolution. The interaction further strengthened communication between the administration and the local community while helping identify priorities for future development.
The installation of solar LED street lights forms part of the Punjab Government’s broader vision of promoting sustainable infrastructure and improving the quality of life in both urban and rural areas. Alongside investments in roads, healthcare, education, sanitation, drinking water, and other public utilities, renewable energy initiatives such as solar lighting contribute towards building safer, cleaner, and environmentally responsible communities across SAS Nagar Mohali.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that well-lit streets play an important role in improving public safety, supporting daily mobility, and creating a more secure environment for residents. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to strengthening public infrastructure, expanding citizen-centric services, and encouraging sustainable development through environmentally friendly initiatives. He also thanked Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang for facilitating the project through the MPLADS Fund and assured the villagers that the issues raised during the interaction would be pursued with the concerned authorities for early resolution.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to the continued development of Landran village and the overall progress of SAS Nagar Mohali. Through coordinated efforts, modern infrastructure projects, renewable energy initiatives, and continuous public engagement, the Punjab Government, Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang, and MLA Kulwant Singh remain dedicated to enhancing public safety, improving civic amenities, and ensuring inclusive and sustainable development for every resident.
