Open Gym and Water Tanker Strengthen Urban Development in Mohali
Residents of Sector 69, SAS Nagar Mohali, received two important community assets on 12 July 2026 with the inauguration of a new Open Gym and the dedication of a Water Tanker for public use. The facilities were inaugurated during a community programme attended by Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang and MLA Kulwant Singh, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening public infrastructure, promoting healthy living, and improving essential civic amenities across Mohali.
During the programme, the newly developed open gym was formally dedicated to the residents of Sector 69. Equipped with modern outdoor fitness equipment, the facility is expected to encourage people of all age groups to adopt healthier lifestyles through regular physical activity. The open gym will provide a convenient and accessible space for exercise, helping promote fitness, community interaction, and overall well-being while creating a healthier neighbourhood environment.
On the same occasion, Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang handed over a water tanker to the Eco Plantation Association under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS). The tanker will be utilised for maintaining parks, roadside plantations, green belts, and other community green spaces, while also supporting environmental conservation efforts and strengthening civic infrastructure in the area. The initiative reflects a continued focus on sustainable urban development and the preservation of Mohali’s green environment.
Following the inauguration, MLA Kulwant Singh interacted with local residents and discussed various development priorities concerning the area. Citizens shared their suggestions regarding civic infrastructure, public amenities, cleanliness, parks, roads, sanitation, and other local issues. He assured the residents that all genuine concerns would be taken up with the concerned departments for timely action and effective resolution. The interaction further strengthened communication between public representatives and the community while helping identify priorities for future development.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that quality public amenities play a vital role in improving the everyday lives of citizens and creating healthier, greener, and more liveable neighbourhoods. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to strengthening public infrastructure, expanding citizen-centric services, and promoting sustainable development across Mohali. He also expressed his gratitude to Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang for providing the water tanker through the MPLADS Fund and appreciated the collective efforts being made to improve community facilities and environmental sustainability.
