Solar Lighting Project Boosts Public Infrastructure in Pato Village
Public infrastructure in Pato village, SAS Nagar Mohali, received a major boost on 12 July 2026 with the inauguration of a new Solar LED Street Lighting Project. The project was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) to enhance public safety, improve village infrastructure, and promote the use of clean and renewable energy in rural areas.
MLA Kulwant Singh attended the inauguration programme along with local residents, community leaders, and public representatives. The newly installed solar-powered LED street lights are expected to significantly improve visibility on village roads and public spaces, making movement safer for pedestrians, commuters, women, senior citizens, and school-going children during evening and night hours. Besides enhancing security, the project also supports environmental sustainability by promoting energy-efficient public infrastructure.
The installation of solar LED street lights forms part of the Punjab Government’s broader vision of strengthening rural infrastructure through sustainable development. Similar renewable energy projects are being implemented across Punjab to improve basic civic amenities, reduce dependence on conventional electricity, and create safer, cleaner, and more environmentally responsible villages. The initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to modernising public infrastructure while encouraging the adoption of green energy solutions.
Following the inauguration, MLA Kulwant Singh interacted with villagers and reviewed various local development priorities. Residents raised issues related to roads, sanitation, drainage, public amenities, village infrastructure, and other community requirements. He listened carefully to their concerns and assured them that all genuine matters would be taken up with the concerned government departments to ensure timely and effective resolution. The interaction further strengthened communication between the administration and the local community while helping identify priorities for future development.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring public safety remain among the highest priorities for the development of villages across Mohali. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is continuously working to expand public infrastructure, improve citizen-centric services, and implement sustainable development initiatives that directly benefit every section of society. He also expressed his gratitude to Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang for providing the project through the MPLADS Fund and said that regular interaction with villagers helps ensure that development initiatives remain aligned with local needs and aspirations.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to the continued development of Pato village and the overall progress of SAS Nagar Mohali. Through coordinated efforts, renewable energy initiatives, improved public infrastructure, responsive governance, and active community participation, the Punjab Government, Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang, and MLA Kulwant Singh remain dedicated to building safer, greener, and more sustainable communities across the constituency.
