Pilgrims Leave Ansal API, Sector 114 for Holy Shrines Under Punjab Government Scheme
Senior citizens from Ansal API, Sector 114, SAS Nagar Mohali, embarked on a sacred pilgrimage on 20 July 2026 under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme, a flagship welfare initiative of the Punjab Government aimed at enabling elderly citizens to undertake visits to renowned religious and historical destinations free of cost. MLA Kulwant Singh flagged off the pilgrimage bus, interacted with the pilgrims and their families, and extended his heartfelt wishes for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling journey.
The Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme has been launched to ensure that senior citizens, particularly those who may not be able to afford such journeys independently, have the opportunity to fulfil their lifelong spiritual aspirations with dignity and ease. Under the scheme, the Punjab Government provides comprehensive support, including free transportation, comfortable accommodation, nutritious meals, and other essential facilities, allowing pilgrims to devote themselves entirely to their spiritual experience.
During the pilgrimage, the senior citizens will visit some of Punjab’s most revered religious and historical landmarks, including Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum in Amritsar. These destinations hold immense spiritual, cultural, and historical importance, offering devotees an opportunity to seek blessings while deepening their understanding of Punjab’s rich heritage and India’s historic legacy.
Before the departure, MLA Kulwant Singh spent time interacting with the senior citizens and their family members, encouraging the pilgrims to enjoy every moment of the journey and make the most of this unique opportunity. He assured them that all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the pilgrimage.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is a reflection of the Punjab Government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and dignity of senior citizens. He stated that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government is ensuring that elderly citizens can undertake religious pilgrimages without any financial burden by providing free travel, quality accommodation, wholesome meals, and all essential facilities required for a safe and comfortable journey.
He further emphasised that the scheme is much more than a pilgrimage programme—it is a meaningful social welfare initiative that recognises and honours the invaluable contributions made by senior citizens to society. By making spiritual journeys accessible to all eligible elderly residents, the government is fostering a sense of inclusion, respect, and care while helping senior citizens fulfil their religious aspirations with dignity.
The pilgrimage bus departed from Ansal API, Sector 114, SAS Nagar Mohali, amid an atmosphere of devotion, prayers, and warm wishes from family members, local residents, and public representatives. Through people-centric initiatives such as the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with MLA Kulwant Singh, continues to promote social welfare, inclusive development, and compassionate governance by ensuring that senior citizens across SAS Nagar Mohali receive the care, respect, and opportunities they truly deserve.
