Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana flagged off a special pilgrimage bus under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme from Sector 79, SAS Nagar Mohali, enabling senior citizens to embark on a spiritual journey to some of Punjab’s most revered religious and historical destinations. The welfare initiative, launched by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, aims to provide elderly citizens with an opportunity to undertake pilgrimage with dignity, comfort, and complete government support.
The pilgrimage itinerary includes visits to Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum in Amritsar. These destinations hold immense religious, cultural, and historical significance, offering pilgrims an opportunity to seek spiritual blessings while gaining a deeper appreciation of Punjab’s rich heritage and history.
Before flagging off the bus, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana interacted with the senior citizens and extended his heartfelt best wishes for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching journey. He expressed happiness that elderly residents of Mohali were being provided with an opportunity to visit these sacred places without having to worry about travel arrangements, accommodation, or other logistical challenges. He encouraged the pilgrims to make the most of the journey and return with cherished spiritual memories.
The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has been introduced with the objective of making religious travel more accessible for senior citizens across Punjab. Under the scheme, the Punjab Government has arranged transportation, assistance, accommodation, and other essential facilities to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-organised pilgrimage experience. The initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to improving the quality of life of elderly citizens through inclusive and people-centric welfare programmes.

The flag-off ceremony concluded with prayers for the safety, good health, and successful return of all the pilgrims.
