Senior Citizens from Saneta Begin Pilgrimage Journey Under CM Tirath Yatra Initiative
Mohali: A bus carrying senior pilgrims from Saneta village in the Mohali constituency departed on 13 August 2026 for a religious and historical journey under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme. The initiative aims to provide elderly residents with an opportunity to visit important religious and historical destinations through organised travel arrangements.
During the journey, the pilgrims are scheduled to visit Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum. The destinations hold considerable religious, cultural and historical significance and offer pilgrims an opportunity to combine spiritual travel with an understanding of Punjab’s heritage.
The scheme is intended to make pilgrimage more convenient for senior citizens by providing organised transportation and essential facilities during the journey. Under the arrangements, participating pilgrims are provided accommodation and meals by the Punjab Government, helping them undertake the journey without having to independently manage these major travel requirements.
The departure from Saneta witnessed enthusiasm among the participating senior citizens and local residents. For many of the pilgrims, the programme provides an opportunity to travel together and visit places that hold special religious and historical importance.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is an important initiative for facilitating pilgrimage for senior citizens. He said that organised travel along with arrangements for accommodation and meals can make such journeys more comfortable and accessible for elderly residents.
MLA Kulwant Singh wished all the pilgrims a safe, peaceful and fulfilling journey and expressed hope that they would return with memorable experiences from their visit to the various religious and historical destinations.
The bus departed from Saneta village with the senior pilgrims as part of the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme, reflecting the government’s effort to facilitate organised religious travel for eligible residents.
