MLA Kulwant Singh Flags Off Senior Citizens’ Pilgrimage from Chilla Village
Senior citizens from Village Chilla, SAS Nagar Mohali, were flagged off on 11 July 2026 for a spiritual pilgrimage under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, a flagship welfare initiative of the Punjab Government aimed at enabling elderly citizens to visit prominent religious and historical destinations with dignity, comfort, and complete government support. The initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s continued commitment to senior citizen welfare under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
MLA Kulwant Singh participated in the flag-off ceremony and extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the pilgrims for a safe, peaceful, and spiritually fulfilling journey. He interacted with the elderly devotees before their departure and assured them that the Punjab Government had made comprehensive arrangements to provide comfortable transportation, meals, accommodation, medical assistance, and other essential facilities throughout the pilgrimage so they could travel without any financial or logistical burden.
During the pilgrimage, the devotees will visit several of Punjab’s most revered religious and historical landmarks, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum, along with other places of spiritual and cultural significance. The tour offers senior citizens an opportunity to seek divine blessings while experiencing Punjab’s rich religious traditions, historical legacy, and cultural heritage in a safe, well-organised, and respectful environment.
The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has emerged as one of the Punjab Government’s significant welfare initiatives for elderly citizens. By providing organised transportation, travel assistance, accommodation, medical support, and other necessary facilities, the scheme enables senior citizens to fulfil their spiritual aspirations with dignity and ease. The initiative also promotes social inclusion while encouraging greater appreciation of Punjab’s religious, historical, and cultural heritage among participants.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that senior citizens have made invaluable contributions to society and deserve every opportunity to undertake spiritual journeys with respect, comfort, and peace of mind. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to implementing people-centric welfare initiatives that improve the quality of life of elderly citizens and ensure they receive the care, dignity, and recognition they deserve. He wished all the pilgrims good health, a safe journey, and a spiritually enriching experience.
He further said that the Punjab Government will continue introducing welfare programmes that support senior citizens and strengthen social well-being. He encouraged the pilgrims to enjoy the spiritual tour and carry back the blessings and inspiration gained from visiting Punjab’s sacred and historic places.
The flag-off ceremony concluded with prayers for the safe and successful completion of the pilgrimage.
